What is changing?

On 22 August 2024, the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Getting the NDIS Back on Track No. 1) Bill 2024 was passed by the Parliament.

The passage of the Bill allows us to get on with making the NDIS stronger and improving the experience for participants.

The Bill received Royal Assent on 5 September 2024. The new NDIS laws come into effect on 3 October 2024.’

Until then:

– all access and planning processes, decisions and supports will continue in line with current operational guidance.
– participants should continue spending in accordance with their plans and existing operational guidance.
– providers should continue to claim for supports in line with current operational guidance

What is The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of delivering funding. It makes sure that you, people living with a disability, receives the right funding to get the support and service important to them. There is now more freedom and choice in selecting support services.

The NDIS provides all people with disability with information and connections to services in their communities such as doctors and other services, support groups, as well as information about what support is provided by each state and territory government.

Participant booklets

To help you with your NDIS journey, the NDIS created three booklets to make it easier for you.

Three participant booklets are available to support people with disability and participants throughout their NDIS journey. The booklets are a practical tool to help people with disability, participants, their families, carers and the wider community to learn more about how to apply for the NDIS, prepare for a planning conversation and use their plan.
